So for a while now I’ve been wanting a change of diet. For the past few years I’ve just chucked whatever I wanted into my body without a second thought. Now I’ve realised that maybe that wasn’t the best thing.
I’ve only changed my diet one week ago but I already feel so much healthier and I’ve lost 7lb in as many days, crazy. This diet is loosely based on the Atkins diet.
Here’s what I’ve been doing:
~ Avoided all carbs which includes : potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, chocolate, cake, coffee, english tea, hot chocolate, alcohol, fruit etc.
~ Upping my intake of vegetables and protein.
~ exercising at least half an hour every day
My meal plan is as follows:
Every breakfast I had three fried eggs and 3 or 4 slices of bacon.
Though on one morning I substituted this with a burger topped with cheese and egg.
For lunch I had salads.
Tuesday ~ Stir fried beef with a bistro salad.
Wednesday ~ Low carb spaghetti and meatballs.
Thursday ~ Smoked Tofu w/ almonds and sunflower seeds and a bistro salad.
Friday ~ Egg salad.
In all my salads I included boiled egg cut up, tomatoes, cucumber and sweetcorn. Also I bought 1 bag of bistro salad from M&S and that lasted me four lunches.
You can buy cooked tofu from wholefoods! There are other varieties too. Just double check that it can be eaten cold. Tofu is a good source of protein so can replace meat. It costs around £2.99 a block. 1 block is enough for 2 lunches.
For Dinner:
It’s similar to lunch. But with more cooked meats, different salads and some cooked vegetables.
You want to aim to only consume 20 net carbs a day. Just look at the of which sugars on the label under the carbs section.
You can have dairy but not milk or yoghurt. Cheese is perfectly fine.
Soda or fizzy drinks are out. These are ridiculously bad for you and will undermine what you’ve been doing!
I’m only going to do this for two weeks ~ one week left to go! After that I will start to reintroduce some carbs in my diet but not a lot. I don’t think I’ll eat bread or rice. Maybe once in a while.
If you’re just wanting a detox and not too fussed with the weight loss, you don’t have to cut out fruit :)
Extra tips:
~ fried eggs can be boring so you can cook them in any other way that you like. I’ve found a recipe for egg muffins that just contain egg, spinach and mushroom! So look around for recipes.
~ If you have a sweet tooth like me, dark chocolate has barely any carbs in it. Once you’ve started eating like this for a few days it’ll start to taste sweet.
~ I like to drink green tea once a day. I find it helps with cravings. If you feel like you want something full of carbs, having a cup of tea really helped.
~ If I want a snack, I’ll eat almonds or peanuts :)
For my exercise routine. I’ve been using Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 days but if you don’t have a workout routine you might find this really intensive. Before this I started with 30 day shred which you can watch on youtube.
All you need is some floor space and hand weights.
I’ll do it six days a week for 30 mins a day and then have a rest day. If you’re really sore, working out the next day helps. But if you’re in pain definitely take a rest day to recover!
I find the fact that she has a beginner and an intermediate version of every move really helpful. I could be intermediate in some moves but in others I had to do the beginner.
Hope this helps! If you have any other question, don’t hesitate to ask me :)
